Cher (* 20. Mai 1946 in El Centro, Kalifornien als Cherilyn Sarkisian) ist eine US-amerikanische Sängerin und Songwriterin. In den 1980er Jahren startete sie eine zweite Karriere als Schauspielerin zunächst am Broadway; nach erstem Kritikerlob für ihre Filmrollen in Silkwood und Die Maske gewann sie 1988 den Oscar als Beste Hauptdarstellerin für Mondsüchtig. Außerdem ist sie Emmy-, Grammy- und dreifache Golden-Globe-Preisträgerin.
